New Restoration Millwork® Beadboard Offers Industry-First Design, Speeds Installation

(Valley Forge, Pa.) – CertainTeed is expanding its exterior trim product offering with the introduction of Restoration Millwork® 3TL — the widest beadboard trim on the market that installs up to 30 percent faster than standard width beadboard. The company is also introducing Restoration Millwork 2TL, a new 6-inch two-bead beadboard. Both products feature TightLap™, a progressive notched shiplap design for a larger concealed nailing area. The new 2TL and 3TL beadboards are an excellent choice for beautifying larger exterior areas, such as porch ceilings, skirting and deck surrounds.

“By expanding our Restoration Millwork exterior trim line with broader Tightlap-enhanced beadboards, large outdoor projects can be tackled quickly and without installation headaches,” says Patti Pellock, senior marketing manager for CertainTeed Restoration Millwork. “The new beadboards also create more design possibilities for homeowners seeking show-stopping curb appeal without having to worry about future maintenance.”

Along with a larger concealed nailing area, the beadboards’ TightLap edge allows two adjacent panels to seamlessly overlap, provides better hold, a reversible bead/channel repeat for a smooth transition between panels and streamlined appearance. The 2TL and 3TL beadboard with TightLap join Restoration Millwork’s existing 5 ½-inch beadboard with traditional tongue and groove, which is well suited for smaller accent areas, as well as the 4-foot by 8-foot beadboard panel with standard lap.

Made from cellular polyvinyl chloride (PVC), Restoration Millwork beadboards are engineered to look, feel and work like top-grade lumber. Unlike wood, however, the beadboards are made with a long-lasting, low-maintenance material that is resistant to rotting, warping, moisture and insects. Offered in Natural White finish or painted to complement exterior colors, the beadboards can be cut using ordinary woodworking tools and fastened with nails or screws.

In addition, Restoration Millwork beadboards complement all siding materials — including vinyl, fiber cement, wood, stucco and brick — and are ideal for single- and multi-family housing, light commercial developments and remodeling projects. Also, the beadboards are highly resistant to yellowing caused by UV rays, resist freezing during winter months, feature a Class A (Class 1) flame spread classification and are backed by a 25-year limited warranty.
