New CertainTeed® Restoration Millwork® Skirtboard Provides Fast and Accurate Installation, Seamless Look for Fiber Cement Siding Applications

(Valley Forge, Pa.) – CertainTeed’s new Restoration Millwork® cellular PVC skirtboard is the ideal solution for fiber cement siding projects, helping building professionals improve installation time and accuracy. In addition to its patent-pending DualStart™ feature for easy installation and surface flexibility, the skirtboard meets U.S. building code requirements for fiber cement siding ground clearance and is well suited for use as a transition panel between siding styles.
“The new skirtboard reflects our commitment to manufacture aesthetically-pleasing, durable products that solve installation headaches,” says Patti Pellock, senior marketing manager for CertainTeed Restoration Millwork. “The skirtboard is a perfect fit both in style and functionality. It can improve installation accuracy, and offers high performance and multiple design options.”
Restoration Millwork skirtboard is available in a paintable Natural White color, 12-foot lengths and 6- and 8-inch widths with standard 1 and 5/4-inch thicknesses. Its DualStart design is reversible and flippable to either TrueTexture™ woodgrain or smooth finish. The beveled lap on both edges sets the first course for fiber cement siding installation and also acts as a built-in drip edge, protecting against water buildup. When used as a transition board, it creates a seamless look between shake and lap siding styles, providing exceptional curb appeal and performance.
Made from cellular polyvinyl chloride (PVC), the full line of Restoration Millwork trim, beadboard and accessories is engineered to look, feel and work like top-grade lumber. Unlike wood, however, it is made with a long-lasting, low-maintenance material that is resistant to rotting, warping, moisture and insects. It can be cut using ordinary woodworking tools and fastened with nails or screws. It is highly resistant to yellowing caused by UV rays, resists freezing during winter months, features a Class A (Class 1) flame spread classification and is backed by a 25-year limited warranty.
