Mike Holmes to Feature CertainTeed® AirRenew® Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Drywall in a Special Labour Day Episode on HGTV Canada

Canada’s Most Trusted Contractor and son Mike Jr. give viewers an all access pass as they work together to build “Mike’s Ultimate Garage”

(Tampa, Fla.) – Renowned building industry expert Mike Holmes and son Mike Jr. team up with CertainTeed Gypsum for a special two-hour episode, “Mike’s Ultimate Garage,” to premiere Monday, September 1 at 8 p.m. EST on HGTV Canada. With Mike Jr. as project manager, the Holmes team will take viewers on a fast-paced ride as he strives to make his father proud and present him with a state-of-the-art man cave featuring some of the coolest gadgetry and cutting-edge technologies.

The 1850 square foot garage prominently showcases CertainTeed® AirRenew® Extreme Impact Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Gypsum Board as the interior walls, an especially durable, Holmes Approved Product that actively helps to clean indoor air by capturing airborne chemicals, specifically formaldehyde and other aldehydes, and converts them into inert compounds—permanently trapping them inside the board.

“I’ve been planning my dream garage for years. My son MJ went over and above what I’d even envisioned to make sure I ended up with an amazing man cave. I know I’ll be spending every minute of my downtime there,” said Mike Holmes. “With the cold Canadian winters I’ll have to keep the garage doors closed most of time. It’s good to have peace of mind that AirRenew will help keep pollutants out of my lungs. And the extra durability is a great thing, in case I am hard on my workshop.”

Many things in a home’s interior can off-gas — including new furniture, paint, carpeting and cabinets. New aldehydes can be brought into the space through air fresheners, clothing, cleaning agents and other daily household items. Breathing in these chemicals on a regular basis may be dangerous to one’s health. AirRenew industry-only technology helps create a healthier, more sustainable environment.

The AirRenew portfolio of products includes a wide range of performance attributes, such as resistance to fire, mould, moisture, abuse and impact. Specifically, the product line features: AirRenew Essential, AirRenew M2Tech®, AirRenew M2Tech Type X, AirRenew Extreme Abuse as well as AirRenew Extreme Impact. Each product handles the same as regular gypsum board and does not require special tools to install or finish.

In addition to the special two-hour episode at 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1 on HGTV Canada, viewers can also tune in for a new regular season of Holmes Makes It Right, now airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST, also on HGTV Canada. The full episode of “Mike’s Ultimate Garage” will also be available online on Sept. 2 on For more information, visit or
