Contractors Earn National Recognition for Projects at Inaugural CertainTeed Gypsum U.S. Trophy Event

Paric Corporation and Oregon Interiors selected to represent United States in Saint-Gobain Gypsum international competition this June in Prague

(Malvern, Pa.) – Paric Corporation and Oregon Interiors, Inc., will represent the United States at the 10th Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy Awards ceremony this June in Prague. Selected from 27 project submissions of outstanding work using CertainTeed Gypsum products, the two contractors were honored at the inaugural CertainTeed Gypsum U.S. Trophy event this past September in Dallas. They will join Nova Scotia contractor Tartan Interiors, Ltd., as the three North American honorees attending the prestigious international ceremony.

“The CertainTeed Gypsum U.S. Trophy helps us to express our gratitude and reverence for talented building professional partners who have demonstrated excellence and creativity in the use of our gypsum products,” says Dave Engelhardt, president of CertainTeed Gypsum. “The projects submitted by Paric Corporation and Oregon Interior support our goal of providing innovative solutions for high-performance, sustainable interiors.”

Representing the South-Central U.S. division, St. Louis-based Paric Corporation was selected for its outstanding interior work in the new Academic and Research Building at St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Designed by Cannon Design, this world-class building encompasses 213,000 square feet and includes a large auditorium, several state-of-the art classrooms and study areas and 30,000 square feet of research space. The project utilized creative applications of innovative, durable CertainTeed products, including: M2Tech® Type X Moisture & Mold Resistant gypsum board; AirRenew® Extreme Impact Resistant gypsum board, GlasRoc® Diamondback® Tile Backer and GlasRoc Sheathing.

“With the variety of spaces in the Academic and Research Building, from lecture halls and labs to the library, we needed a wide range of design solutions and high performance gypsum products to meet our project goals, and CertainTeed Gypsum helped make that possible,” says Tim Vaughan, senior project manager of Paric Corporation. “We are thrilled to be recognized for this project and are pleased to have Certainteed Gypsum as a valued project partner.”

Oregon Interiors, of Clackamas, Oregon, won the trophy for the Northwest U.S. division with their work on the Breathe Building in Portland, Oregon. The Breathe Building was designed to be the most sustainable wellness and community center in the U.S., built to the Earth Advantage Silver Certification, a third-party green building standard designed to improve the health, comfort, durability, energy efficiency and water efficiency of buildings. In its project, Oregon Interiors utilized many creative applications of AirRenew Indoor Air Quality gypsum board. AirRenew features industry-only IAQ technology that enables it to capture formaldehyde from indoor air, and convert it into inert compounds, which remain permanently and safely trapped within the board.

“This project really showcases the importance of the materials that contribute to indoor environmental quality, and AirRenew was key to us achieving a more sustainable interior,” says Aaron Ensley, president of Oregon Interiors. “We are grateful to CertainTeed for our award and look forward to representing the US in Prague this year.”

Awarded every two years, the Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy recognizes excellence in design, drywall installation and finishing. The competition judges building professionals for their gypsum-related skills in the following categories: Gypsum Board Craftsmanship and Design; Finishing Application; Innovation & Sustainability; Residential; Mixed Use – Commercial; and Hospitals, Hotels and Education. The 10th anniversary of the renowned event will be held in June in Prague, Czech Republic. To learn more, visit www.saint-gobain-gyproc.com.
