CertainTeed Supports National Manufacturing Day with Plant Tours and Education
CertainTeed Corporation and its parent company Saint-Gobain, are celebrating Manufacturing Day, not only today but throughout the entire month of October. Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers.
The company will recognize Manufacturing Day with a variety of activities in its plants across the U.S. including open houses, plant tours, educational presentations and a one-day trade show at the corporate headquarters. A few locations are working with their local middle school students to stress the importance of manufacturing in addition to hosting them for various activities throughout the month.“Our goal is to educate the next generation, whether transitioning military members, high school students or middle school students, on the importance of jobs in manufacturing as a career choice,” said Mark Rayfield, President and CEO of CertainTeed Corporation. “Manufacturing is the foundation of our country and the communities where we live. Supporting Manufacturing Day is one way CertainTeed continues to raise awareness of the labor shortage while ensuring U.S. manufacturing thrives.”
According to the National Association of Manufacturers and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are nearly 12.75 million manufacturing workers in the U.S., accounting for 8.6 percent of the workforce. CertainTeed relies on those working in the plants to produce the extensive line of CertainTeed building products.
Through the responsible development of innovative and sustainable building products, CertainTeed, headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, has helped shape the building products industry for more than 110 years. Founded in 1904 as General Roofing Manufacturing Company, the firm's slogan, "Quality Made Certain, Satisfaction Guaranteed," inspired the name CertainTeed.
