Building Professionals Give Top Rankings to CertainTeed Foundation Waterproofing Solution
(Valley Forge, Pa.) – As the spring building season gets underway, building professionals have voiced unequivocal preference for the CertainTeed® Form-A-Drain™ foundation drainage and radon evacuation system in Builder magazine’s 2011 Brand Use Study. For the first time, Form-A-Drain received top honors as the overall brand leader among all exterior foundation waterproofing products. More than 10,000 builders and general contractors contributed to the survey.
“CertainTeed has a strong commitment to equipping today’s builders with solutions that help them provide their customers with homes that are sustainable, energy-efficient and protected from excessive groundwater,” said Mark DaSilva, marketing manager for the CertainTeed Foundations Group. “This study illustrates that Form-A-Drain is the product of choice for builders when water protection and radon reduction are critical components of a new project.”
The study, conducted by Readex Research, asked building professionals to rank products based on familiarity, frequency of use and overall quality. Form-A-Drain was selected as the top choice across all categories.
Form-A-Drain is a patented three-in-one concrete footing form system, foundation drainage system and sub-slab perimeter radon venting system. Manufactured from 100 percent pre- and post-consumer polyvinyl chloride (PVC), it remains in place after the concrete is poured. Because it remains in place, there is no need for the builder to return to the jobsite, creating efficiency for both the builder and the homeowner. The overall pre- and post-consumer recycled content of Form-A-Drain system components is 92 percent.
After installation, Form-A-Drain collects groundwater through multiple side vents and transports it to a sump pit or a drainage pipe going to the outside. Harmful radon gas is also collected and safely evacuated through a separate vent pipe.
